Help, I have recently bought a golf 1.9 tdi 1997 p reg , the car runs fine but it has got a problem it will run ok then it will just cut out, i have to leave it for a few minutes till it will start again. i thought it might of been the diesel but i filled it up and it still does the same. i thought it might be overheating but it is not. Can any one help with this ?

There's always a range of possibilities; but "Relay 109," the engine control relay [in the fusebox] has been the bane of all [diesel] VAG's for many years.

The good news is that the [latest] modified one is merely pennies [£13?] and takes just seconds to change. Probably worth doing first anyway; because the alternatives [ignition switch etc.] aren't so nice and simple.
