Vectra water loss.Inline valve? - Quinny
On the back of the engine on my 97 Vectra diesel, there seems to be a black valve of some sort, that is inline on the water system,to the heater. It also has a small black push on pipe, much like a vacuum pipe on an old carburettor engine.

This seems to have a small leak, but I think under pressure, and the faster the engine runs,it is obviously losing more water,as the level in my header tank can go down, even if I've filled it up.There's no water in the oil,so the head gasket would appear to be ok,and I think it possibly unlikely the head could be cracked,so this may be the culprit.

Now.Is it a part I can get from Autovaux,is it likely I need to get ripped off by the local VX dealer?

this is the heater shut off valve controlled by a electrical vacuum solenoid .They do leak ,usually from the vac diaphragm area; cost about £ 25 from Vauxhall dealer.

It may well stop the water leak then,so before I ring Dick Turpin tomorrow,I'll give Autovaux a ring and see if they do it.
