Hi,
Can anyone tell me if a diesel Citroen Berlingo (Y reg) will have an electric in-tank fuel lift pump or will it still have a good old mechanical lift pump?
Many thanks in advance for any info.
cheers, Gia

On our petrol berlingo at work, you can hear the fuel pump prime itself when you turn the key indicating it's an electric fuel pump. I would have thought the same would have applied with the diesel. If you can't hear the fuel pump prime, then *maybe* it's mechanical.

There will only be an electric fuel pump if it's an HDi. If it's a 1.9D, then it will have the old mechanical fuel pump (with a few electronic bells and whistle to go wrong) only - and a primer under the bonnet to pump the fuel up if you run out / when you change the filter. Electric lift pumps on early HDis are a well known weak point, and generally pack up at about 60k miles - they seem to have sorted this out now, as I haven't heard of one packing up for a while. Usually results in a no-start situation, but without any fault codes!
