Sounds like the Morris oil I use, quote from my post from March last year
"I too use Morris oils with the following results on Citroens
1984 Visa GT sold at 122K miles
1989 BX 16valve sold at 151K miles
1992 XM diesel sold at 165K miles
all without mechanical problems and MoT emissions within limits"
To which I can add my Synergie 1.9 diesel is at 88K miles on Morris oil.

Ian, Morris Lubicants of Shrewsbury. Established 1869. Telephone 01743 232 200. A very well respected firm who deal not only in car related products, but also in specialist industrial and agricultural oils and greases. I used to use their oils, both diesel and petrol, regularly for a number of years when I had a friendly (legitimate) source. He's moved on now and I use another oil now. Morris is a name not known to much of the public and so it's regarded by many as an anonymous cheapy, and hence is avoided, but is undoubtedly a good name with good specs. It is not usually a particularly cheap oil and I would certainly buy it again. Especially at that price. Just check that the viscosity is suitable for your car - check the handbook.
Your offer is £8.60 per 5 litres. My local car spares shop sells it at £12.95. Buy it!
Hope this helps, KB

Sorry, I don't know a blind thing about Morris oil - but anyone sharing a similar name is worth a response.
Back in the fifties I was in the same class at junior school with another Ian Cook (Ian Malcom Cook, who went into newspaper photography and might still be earning a living that way). Now that WAS confusing.
Pug 306 TD is a good tool though.

Well known to Motorcyclists (well those that read MCS) as a quality oil.

I have used Morris oil for my cars for many years and have never had an engine component fail.
I use 10/40 Multivis semi-synthetic which is the top specification in oils.
I buy in 5ltr packs from Foreign Autoparts 15 Uxbridge St, Burton on Trent and the price a couple of months ago was just over £10.00
Morris are excellent in customer relations and you can ring them and ask for technical advice which is instantly available. They will advise which oil to use for your model and also send service sheets for it with all details.
When I bought my vectra diesel they advised Multivis which has both a high diesel spec and also high petrol spec.
They wrote to me explaining that on Eoropean highways from 1995 valve train wear on diesel engines had been perceived particularly on Vauxhall.Opel,Ford.
Therefore the oil should be up to CCMC PD2/G5 which is a petrol spec and contains a higher amount of anti-wear additives together with a high diesel spec. Multivis semi synth 10/40 meets this.
They do have a web site you can go to.

Ian, I take it you'll be snapping up that oil ASAP then?

Was just going to say as well that Morris is the only substitute I've ever found for the special heavy oil that Harleys need if you can't get the Harley brand. It is wel thought of by the bikers I know.

Thanks for all the info on Morris oils , looks like I should get some. The place I sourced this oil was Auto Diesel at Portrack in Stockton on Tees. This is a Motorfactor on an industrial estate. Just shows its worth looking beyond the usual places like Halfords etc.
