vw golf gti 2.0l 8 valve - colin macdonald

I have recentley serviced this golf and just before i did so the "oil press" message was displayed , now tha it has been serviced the owner has twice had the coolant warning message , do these cars have any "characteristics" or is there a fix fro dodgy warning messages .
Also looking for the dash sequence to reset service reminder
