406 HDi. W, (2001), Estate. I have a problem with the electrics of my car. The brake lights have stuck in the on position, the only way to turn them off is to disconect the battery, once the battery is reconected however, the lights come on again. Also with the key out of the ignition when i press the brake pedal the dashboard warning lights come on (with the brake lights still on). If i start the engine and then turn it off with my foot on the brake pedal the engine will continue to run until i release the brake pedal. Have replaced the switch behind the brake pedal but this has made no difference. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem or remedies appreciated.

Not knowing the car I may be wrong..Try disconnecting the brake light switch. If the lights go out. try. re`adjusting the switch downwards closer to pedal. then reconnect.. if this doesnt help..Remove switch re`connect. then press by finger. If they stay on. then would think switch prob??
Would expect someone that knows be along shortly
