Texaco low sulpher - what effect will this have on a 10 year old 158k Vauxhall engine (2.0 Ecotec) and on elderly no-leaders in question. Should one use an additive ?

The sulpher content (or lack of) in petrol fuel will have no effect on the valve seats as the lubrication effect at high temperature is negligable.
The only point where this may be an issue is in a fuel pump, but on the whole, I'd have thought low sulpher was less likly to corrode and perish rubber.
Low sulpher diesel can alledgedly wear older fuel pumps out, but they are working at much higher pressures compared to even those in injected petrol engines.
The only thing I noticed when diesel fuel had the sulphur content reduced was I used more of it, and the Landrover didn't go as well.
Addiives? Two stroke oil is good, and my vintage car always gets some, even though it is a four stroke engine. However if you have a cat then this may be less than wise.

Our cat much prefers milk! ;-)

It's got to be the proper leaded full-cream stuff for our cats - not this semi-skimmed rubbish.
