Another number plate query - holly1

I was wondering if someone could explain something to me. The plate on my old Mini is pretty good (sad I know, but its one of the reasons why I bought the car) but the car is getting on and may get to a point in the future where I decide to sell it.

However, I would be interested to know if there is anyway I can keep the plate even if I sell the car on, and then pop it onto any replacement vehicle I buy.
