Gulf outside Dorrington on the A49 5 miles south of Shrewsbury have unleaded at 81.9 and proper fuel (aka diesel) at 83.9 cheapest in the area by a few pence.
|
Just to mention that you can sign up on the AA website for them to notify you by e-mail every week of the cheapest fuel in your area:

have'nt used aapetrolbusters for about a year but when I did found it highly inaccurate. I know it must be difficult to keep up with all the frequent changes in price but imagine you made a detour and then found out it was dearer than you first thought...

ooo that is pretty cheap - most places are at 85.9 for dirty diesel! Normally out in the sticks that whack a few pence on rather than take it off!
I guess by the time i've driven from telford to dorrington though any savings will be pointless!

The westbound services slightly before J13 M40 are selling BP Super Unleaded at 95.9p !
First time for years I've put £5 fuel in. Funnily enough I then went to another BP Station, not on the motorway and put the same stuff in for about 9p cheaper. Its not so much the money, although on the Landcruiser it is quite a lot (£7 per tank ish) its the principle. They really are taking the wossname.

Perhaps AA Petrolbusters is less reliable in some areas, but I have found it to be spot-on around here (Herts/Beds).

wonder how long before we see £1 a litre?
|
"Less expensive", may be, but cheap? No! ;-)
|
£1 a litre?
Try £1.20 - proper leaded 4* I bought recently for the vintage car.
Still it does do 45 mpg...

Somewhere outside Market Drayton (Shrewsbury connection), 48 hours ago (I was a little lost at the time, so not qite sure where). Ordinary unleaded was about 94p; diesel about 98p. I almost crashed in astonishemnt...
|
There is an independant petrol station between Market Drayton and Newcastle Under Lyme that charge silly rates like that - something like the bradleygate filling station if i remember correctly.

If this is the Gulf station I think it is, it used to be very competitive several years ago but then didn't.
I find the Shell on the Stone(Staffs) bypass A34/51 is always a good place to buy.

Sainsbury's - South Marston, Swindon. 81.9 p/l unleaded.
Esso just 200 yrds up the road a penny dearer.
I take it Esso don't do the price promise thing anymore? That being they used to match the price of any garage within a 3 mile radius of themselves.
|
The stuff does seem to be dropping in price at the moment, round here it is about 2p a litre cheaper than it was a month ago.
|
The Esso on the A38 in Derby by Markeaton Park had diesel at 83.9 earlier today when i was out and about. Most places had been 85.9 just recently
|
Esso Pricewatch ran beween Jan 2001 ans July 2002, the Tigers eyes remained on some signs, but without the words Pricewatch.
The signs have all been replaced with old-fashioned looking ENERGY signs now.
|
Tesco in Poole, 80.9 litre for unleaded.....I thought they fleeced us Southern, beach loving.....apparently 'loaded'..people.who pay extra council tax to support Sheffield's unemployed ..not so then ?
|
"extra council tax to support Sheffield's unemployed"
I thought it was for your pensions, Zimmer frames and Honda Civics
|
25.4p a litre for unleaded on SR520 just off I 95.

|
81.9 for petrol or diesel at Sainsburys Coventry.
