Looking to replace SWMBO's car so took a test drive in a 6 month old SEAT Leon SE 130 TDi. Did drive very well, powerful engine, enough space etc.
Price however was £13,600 from main dealer, which seems high given a new model is out early in the new year.
The question is I suppose - buy now, or the new model later? What sort of discount should I ask for on the current model about to be replaced ?
Anyone with experience of this particular model ?
Decisions decisions.
Thanks in anticipation.

You could wait for the new model and buy a pre-regged old one or nearly new one. The availability of the new model should knock a bit off the price.

I was seriously considering buying a Leon 150tdi Cupra. That was until the dealer told me (straight faced) that a replacement is not out until 2007. Lost faith in the dealer and never bought the car.

£13600 seems about £750 over the odds, looking at what is available on SEAT's site.
As for replacements for the TDI Cupra, there may be method in the dealer's madness as this model was not available for the first three years of the Leon's life. New Leon coming, yes. Will there be a TDI Cupra available at model launch? Doubt it.

TBH - Not worried about the Cupra equivalent in the new Leon. There will be a mid range Tdi however - either the current 130TDi or the 2.0 TD1 in the new Golf. Either would be acceptable.
Also looking seriously at the Fabia VRs which also has the 130 TDi engine. Is slightly smaller however than the Leon.

IMHO if the new Leon turns out to be another Altea with a different rear end then I would suggest that the current model may almost acheive cult status. We've just got rid of a 2002 TDi S that gave no problems at all, nor did my mates Cupra he ran for 3yrs/30k and replaced with a new Cupra!
www.seatcupra.net is full of info! I would suggest you look into modifying the doorlocks to get over the normal VAG winding the windows down vulnerability. Also, it would seem that some dealers are a bit lack lustre.

Any info on exactly when the new Leon is out ?
CBC Breakdown says early 2005 ?
Having seen the pictures I really do like the look of it ....

Well - decided to save £3k and went for the 110 Tdi equivalent Leon - 6 months older and little real world difference in performance on the test drive.
Considering chipping for +30 bhp/lbsft in the future.
Again - anyone have experience of this upgrade and recommendations ?
