Does anyone know the significance of battery codes? (015 063 038 etc)
Just curious.

The codes signify a particular physical style. e.g. all 063 batteries are dimensionally identical and have the same style and location of battery terminals.

Yeah - but the significance of those codes are??
I think there is nothing behind them - plsu aren't battery codes changing as we speak?

Erm no, but new codes may appear if manufactures want to use a non standard types.
Its the car battery equivalent to AA,AAA,C,D system for torch batteries. It just describes the physical (dimensional) characteristic.

I think they were originally Lucas part codes, and became universally used.
The same is true with auto bulbs, the codes you see on Halfords etc.. pack, such as 383 were originally Lucas part numbers.
