cavalier rear vibration at 70mph - puntoo
my 93 cavalier has a very pronounced vibraton which comes from the rear at speeds around 60-70. If I go faster the vibration disappears.

My father seems to think that the tyres may need to be re-balanced (it just went through an MOT with no mention of worn suspension bushes etc).

Any ideas if out of balance wheels could cause this type of vibration ?

Some tyres oscillate at certain speed ranges.
cavalier rear vibration at 70mph - blinky
Could need rebalancing. Check to see if any of the weights are missing from the rim (or centre if alloys).

Doesn't cost very much to get the car rebalanced at most tyre places.

Yes, Cavalier's are very sensitive to out of balance rear wheels. However, check you haven't got a tyre gone "out of round". Jack up and support one side. Release handbrake and spin the wheel. Looking from the rear of the car, observe that the tyre spins uniformly and there's no deviation in the tread pattern. Repeat with the other wheel.
