My local garage recently fitted my Micra with a new battery after the old gave out after only 10 years! and whilst I could check the water levels in the old one, the new one appears to be sealed. However, in the guarantee it states that the battery must be checked regularly for water levels. How can I do this as it appears to be sealed but it does look like the cover has slots for removal. Is it ok to do this or should I just leave it and let it be done at the annual service?

Perhaps it has a semi transparent case with min and max marks (like a coolant reservoir)so you can see the electrolyte level. Perhaps the guarantee is a generic motaquip one, that is referring to the maintenance type batteries as opposed to maintenance free?

I doesn't have a transparent bit to it. I guess I'll check with my garage. Thanks for your reply.
