Very very rarely do you see a Japanese car at the side of the road, unless it is very old and clearly not properly maintained.

Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
|
I saw an 02 reg Astra being towed today.
Fuel - I doubt it, it would have been much easier to refill it.

Saw a cinquicento on the hard shoulder of the M25 yesterday

I read often, only post occasionally
|
In the past week I've seen two cars by the wayside, both with drivers holding their heads in their hands bawling their eyes out, a different kind of breakdown I think but odd to see none the less.
|
This morning I saw a Mercedes C220 CDi being recovered by the RAC, and a W reg Ford Fiesta sitting on the hard shoulder.
On my way home I noticed an 04 plate C5 VTR, but that appeared to have a flat tyre.

A Citroen broken down? Nah!
From what I see, most C5 warranty work is for annoying things rather than problems that stop you driving.
|
I'm going to France shortly and will keep a mental note - that should please the "anti-French car" brigade!! - though having driven a lot in France, I can't recall seeing many broken down cars of any type on their motorways, compared to here anyway.
Anyone else noticed that occasionally there seem to be a number of puncture victims on certain stretches of motorway?
Mark -what's with the "Alpher" - or are you just taking the mickey?

Yup, he's extracting the urine. If you think it was bad yesterday, I suspect he'll be taking it by the gallon today....

Just trying to "inject" some humour No Dosh.
Ooh, sorry, did I use the word "inject" ??
BTW, how is your super reliable, never gives any trouble, wonderful everybody should have one, Alpher running this week ?
We know you had a problem with it last week, but I suppose that now you've had that fixed its running perfectly again ?

I said it\'s fine.
Just as long as you don\'t actually want to drive anywhere.

Pictures are near the bottom of the thread. Wah! That\'s my baby on the back of that truck!!!! Be warned, your friendly Alfa-driving moderator utters a \"bad word\" on this thread.
No, not that one. Much tamer, but still not allowed here.
|
Ouch
Bad luck. But I thought that modern Alfs were as reliable as a modern VW. Ah. That's where you're going wrong...
Nissan here you come... I believe those Micras are excellent cars. Don't know whether they'll go up a hill in the snow though. Funny little car isn't it. (I mean the 156.) It seems to come with its own moving platform, with wheels. Strange...
|
Funny you should mention VW; the problem is with the injector system.... made by Bosch, that well known German company and supplier of fuel injection systems to that bastion of reliability, VW.
And funny you should mention Nissan. I keep looking at the X-trail TDi (after I scrubbed the Audi Allroad as my next car).....
|
Yeah, but they test all the ones they fit to VWs.
As for the X-trail - its ok but I can't say I was all that struck. And I guess you'd be doing some long journeys in it so I'm not sure how comfortable you'd find it.

One thing I can\'t fault the Alfa on is the comfort. Not like Mrs ND\'s Laguna. My neck and shoulders are killing me this morning, and that\'s after only 77 miles. Still, it will be a while before I change the Alfa yet. It\'s going in to the garage tomorrow for diagnostics and hopefully a swift fix.
Probably going to get a Cinquecento as a courtesy car, but that\'s another thread.
|
Perhaps that courtesy car won't have all the additional features you are used to. Like the one that turns on all the dash lights & switches the car off unexpectedly...
Or the swear filter!
|

Gawd ND what shape are you? The gooner has enough adjustments and space to keep even itlaian shaped tractor gorrila's happy!

The shape that you turn into after too many pies

No middle or upper back support. If you crank the seat more upright, your kidneys get pushed into the steering wheel. It's a '99 RN FWIW

Poverty spec at a poverty price. That's bangernomics......
|
Nah. Bangernomics is about running cars that are unreliable. Innit?
|
No, you need a much newer car if you want an unreliable one.
Errrr......

Yup, thats the one that came with two deck chairs.....Try moving it around to the lower wooden notch

keep looking at the X-trail TDi
Crumbs. You want to swap a quite sexy (OK, being honest for a second) car with quite a bit of class & style for a thumping great Chelsea Tractor?

Not really "want" to change, but my needs are a-changing. And it's not that big!
Still reckon I'll have the Alfa for a year or more yet.

I reckon the garage'll have the 'Omega' for a year or more yet. ('alfa' suggests being at the start...)
