Hi,
I have a 2001 Toyota Avensis 1.8VVTi manual hatch. I've begun to notice that during and just after hard acceleration (e.g. up to 60 in 2nd, full throttle) there's sometimes a faint smell of oil from the air vents. The car's done 36K miles and I'm pretty sure it didn't used to do this.
Oil usage is minimal, water usage zero and it's never needed anything topping up between services. I'm not in the habit of thrashing the thing! Have looked into the oil filler cap and all looks nice and clean.
So, is this normal or it it something I should be worrying about? Warranty expires in November...
