Hi,

Well after much deliberating I decided to buy a very nice Alfa Romeo 156 1.8TS Lusso froma car supermarket i visited yesterday. It has all the toys (leather, climate, e/w, e/m, alloys, etc..) , 1 company owner, full service history, 40k on the clock and is a 51 reg. Its in a really nice colour too. Managed to pick it up for £7000 which I think was very reasonable.

Anyway, i did get substantially more for my Mini so I would like to make a few modifications to the Alfa - upgrade the wheels, stereo, add a nice alfa bodykit possibly, etc..

Does anyone know of a good styling/accessory specialist i could use, preferably online?

Thanks,

Chris

I'd recommend the shop at Alfaowner.com a large advantage being that the products they offer are a hell of a lot more tasteful than a lot that you'll find.
Alfa Romeo Styling/Extras specialist? - No Do$h
I would second that. Mind you, I don\'t think you can beat the selespeed 17\" wheels on the 156..... Must get some!

www.alfaowner.com

You\'ll find a fair few backroomers over there. Or is that the other way round?

The renowned Alfa bits supplier is Autodelta who're in W Londonish. They have a web site but lock the credit card away as it's very tempting.

I would "third" the comments from Bazzabear and Nodosh. Ive heard nothing but good things about Autodelta aswell

7000 grand is not aa good price 2001 1.8 sportwagons are only booked at 3500,they took a 500 pound drop 3 weeks ago in glasses

Thanks Andy, I'll have two at that price please.

email me when you have them and I'll have cash waiting. Delivery details to be advised.

Make that three, I'll have one as well.

You realise this is the petrol version Mark? No good for ploughing up your ant nests.

Of course its the petrol one, I don't drive agricultural vehicles - fact.

A petrol tractor? Whatever next!

Andy, since we\'re talking anyway, you will no doubt remember that you previously kept posting that Optimax was destroying engines.

You no doubt also remember ignoring the repeated requests from David, Martyn and myself for you to give us some clue as to your basis for saying this before your lack of replies caused us to delete the statements.

Given that its been two years and I still can\'t find anything about it from anywhere, I wondered if you might now be prepared to let us know where this \"fact\", that you stated so strongly and repeatedly, actually came from ?

Mark.
Alfa Romeo Styling/Extras specialist? - Collos25
Hello Mark, Nice to be remembered. The optimax fiasco in mainlanland europe led to its withdrawel and it has now been replaced with Shell extra(or some such name that apparently works).Haven't you been on any travels recently.I was in Sau Paulo not long back.
Regards Andy

So that's a leggy sportwagon in an unpopular spec.

I repeat that Glasses don't sell cars and you can't get a good condition 1.8TS Sportwagon with average miles in near retail condition with FMDSH for £3500.

ND
Alfa Romeo Styling/Extras specialist? - No Do$h
Tell you what Andy, as Mark wants one as well I'll change my order to one if it helps you source them, but can you get one in Alfa Red with silver roof rails please. Veloce spec preferred. Not too bothered as to whether it has the Leather Momo interior or the Blitz cloth.

Failing Alfa Red, I'll take either of the metallic blues on offer in 2001.

Cheers,

No Dosh*

(* It's an ironic screen name. I really do have the cash sat here waiting.)
Alfa Romeo Styling/Extras specialist? - BazzaBear {P}
Oh, another thought. If you want the very best wheels that can possibly be put on it, go to an Alfa dealer and ask for the GTA teledials. They're fabulous.
Alfa Romeo Styling/Extras specialist? - No Do$h
Andy, any luck on sourcing a 1.8TS Sportwagon for £3,500? Forget being fussy about the colour, I\'ll take what you have. Cash waiting. Post the details here; I can get anywhere in the UK with the money within 48 hours to collect.

Oh, sorry, just realised. Glasses guide don\'t sell cars. If they did they\'d go bust overnight.

Perhaps you\'d be so kind as to not post total cack like that?

Now if you can source a clean, average miles 1.8TS 2001 Sportwagon for £3,500 I will buy it. Naturally being a 2001 Glasses dictates that to fetch book money it should have full history and be presented in a condition that will require minimum dressing to retail the car, so no shabby 120,000 mile examples please.

ND, I'll sort one out for you by gin-and-tonic time tonight for that price. In fact I'll give you a 25% discount for cash. Just re-read that post again. Carefully & sloooowly.

I know these sportswagons are good, but 3,500,000 is a good price!

No, I'm still reading that the car stands in at 3,500, not 3,500 grand.

so who paid 7,000 grand for one of these? Just been looking on autotrader (threads like this must be good for HJ's revenue) gosh they're ugly.

Oh, and I note that the milage is absent from that ad. Suggests the car like\'s its lager to come from the Leuven Brewery.

ND,

everybody knows that Alfas are all ugly, unreliable, willl rust anywhere you breath on them, the electrics will never work properly ( mainly because they come from germany but also because the Italian peasant farmer who loosely bolts it together will have left out the wiring loom), all buttons, knobs ect will fall off before it\'s gone a mile.

Now stop flying in face of popular opinion just because you own one and might know better ;-)

Not sure that a David Blunkett/Stevie Wonder approval is a positive thing ;-)

Just as well they have folk to open doors for them, they'd never find the rear-door handle!!!

alpha security.

How much does that annoy me? I mean, he'd already spelt Alfa correctly once in the advert. It's a car, not a Greek letter.
Oh, and anyone who honestly believes the 156 sportwagon is ugly should give up an dget themselves sectioned now.

As a student, I saw an advert in the window of a temp agency asking for a secretary at "£8,000k".

Did a quick bit of mental arithmetic and worked out that in the time it took them to find out I couldn't type and had never seen a word processor, I could earn about 5 years worth of student grant (we had them then, sort of).

On a serious note the cambelt reqires changing I believe at 30.000 mls(check) Fiat have change to this lower limit after a spate of engine failures.I have seen the paper work on two returned lease cars (1.8 twin sparks) that have had new engines fitted at under 65.000 beacause of cambelt failure.

Yes.. the accepted wisdom is to have the belts done at 36k, however this isn't restricted to Alfas.

Hi guys,

wow 32 posts!

Right, well the car i brought was a 1.8ts Veloce 4DR Saloon in a really nice light met blue. It has covered under 40k miles, 1 owner from new, UK Car, just had new cam belt, spec includes:

15" Alloys
Sports suspension
E/W, E/M,
Sony CD player
Alarm + immob
Climate control
Leather interior (as new)
and probably more but i cant be bothered to think about it!

The car also has a £1000 limit RAC warranty for a year which i brought seperately.

I have just ordered a set of 17" alloys for the car together with one of those shopping trolley stye spoilers! I have also gone for the clear indicators and am currently in the process of looking at some body kits and stereo systems. Much more enjoyable than the mini already!

I pick the car up on sunday afternoon so I will be posting pictures when the work has been carried out.

Alfa Romeo Styling/Extras specialist? - BazzaBear {P}
Obviously it's your car to do with as you will, but please be gentle with her. Remember this is an exceedingly classy, stylish car. IMO 90% of the bodykits out there for the 156 just ruin it. As a general rule, it's a sleek car, if the bodykit is big, it's just going to make it look fat, and that's not with a ph.
Alfa Romeo Styling/Extras specialist? - Altea Ego
Yes take care, make up a classy looking lady to much and it looks like a bakewell! It has natural beauty so dont ruin it.
Alfa Romeo Styling/Extras specialist? - Mapmaker
It's a car, for goodness sake! It's still going to look as though it has a wheel at each corner.
Alfa romeo - Collos25
Further to my previous mail.HJ's Blackbush report shows a 2001 selespeed sportwagon at 3900,how much for a lowly standard 1.8?
Alfa romeo - No Do$h
With some leggy miles on it Mr B, with some leggy miles on it.

Keep trying.

On second thoughts, don't bother.
Alfa romeo - Malcolm_L
About 25k a year which isn't excessive by todays standards?

97K 2001 Passat 130 PD SE went for £6,500, assuming average
condition that's lost about two thirds of book.

Sounds like a good day for punters.
