Sister in law bought this corsa some weeks ago apparently it jumps in drive from 1st to 3rd.if you change gear normaly ie 1st/2nd/3rd it works fine.If you drive in drive mode as above it wont clear even after several engine shutdowns. She has been told it is down to type of plugs installed...these have been replaced by VX but has now been told plug leads (ahem) are the prob. Now I dont know the autos on this car but doubt it is what she has been told.any suggestions.and thanks for any help

Hi Mech1
If the gearbox is ECU controlled rather than a conventional type of autobox then there has been an issue with HT radiation upsetting the ECU because of poor screening of the unit. Used to be a common problem with the big Vauxhalls but never known it on the little ones. Suggest she calls their bluff by agreeing to have new leads but if the problem is still there taking them off again. A call to Trevor King Automatics (see directories) may help

It seems the problem has come back.VX did a diagnostics on auto ecu.came up TC 38 gearbox now only works in limphome mode.according to VX.box ecu is not getting a message from engine as to revs its doing.causing box to go into LHM.VX didnt seem that bothered.told SIL to have it replaced.I havent even seen the car yet.but doubt what is said.? any one any ideas.
