howdy guy and gals
first post on here today
i took my car to a guy i always get serviced at.
he fitted a new suspension(avo road sport)
and did an oil change....he said he put some additives into the engine but he put the wrong one in by mistake...he put in something called diesil blast???an injector cleaner.....but my engine is petrol..he told me that it would be fine just flush it through with petrol and in a couple of weeks itll be fine??
well three days and the things back firing like hell...everytime i put my foot down it like its gasping for petrol...this is only in the lower rev range and occansionally in the high rev range...check for any odd smoke in coming out the back but all seems fine just no power..
is my engine knackered??? or will it be okay just to run it as it is untill it dies off? will i need to fluxh the engine? or should i just take it into a garage pronto? any help would be appreciated

Bit of a long shot, not knowing what he may have put into the tank or engine. Diesel blast sounds like a diesel injector cleaner. One of the problems that afflicts diesel fuel tanks is condensation and fungus/algae and some old technology additives may contain an element that breaks down the water surface tension so it will mix with the fuel and so be washed through the system in miniscule proportions. All well and good if the water contamination is minimal but if significant it all ends up blocking the filter which is what I think has happened here. Take it back to your man and get the filter changed and if the tank is low on fuel anyway drain it and put some fresh fuel in.

cheers for the reply
will try and change that myself as i think this guy is starting to take the pee a bit...had a strong word with him and he said it was my fault as i didnt tell him it wasnt a diesil engine??? hes been doing my car for a couple of years now?
spoke to a guy at national autocars and they said to run the tank dry a few times to get rid of the mixture??

This seems extraordinary - I have the same engine as you and if your mechanic doesn't know the difference between a diesel and a petrol engine (sound, looks, smell, no spark plugs/ignition leads on diesel etc etc) he ought to be back in school v.quickly! I really find this very odd - is he really a trained mechanic or a friend who fixes? Either way I should get him to sort it out.
