Ever heard of "Badge Engineering"?
There, that's the most probable asnwer.
I know there are always exceptions......

'Kompressor' generally relates to superchargers, doesn't it?
I remember that the MKII was produced in very limited quantities with the G-Lader supercharger unit (eg, the G60) but I've never heard of an original supercharged MKI, especially not with that name. I think the badge engineering explanation is probably the best one ;)

Probably driven by pond life who have stolen the sign off somebody`s brand new M. Benz

On a similar subject, I saw a very ordinary Fiesta Mk3 a little while back which had two small-sized "Ghia" emblem badges (the ones meant for door pillars) stuck onto it's boot in what seemed a very random and non-symetrical fashion.
Very tacky it looked too.
