No doubt RenaultFamily will know this...
How much fuel is left when the light comes on?
Handbook doesn't say & the trip just goes blank.
I've done 40 mls with it on, but wouldn't like to push it much further.
Is there an industry standard on the setting?

I personally have no idea, but you can find out for yourself. Wait until the fuel light comes on, and fill up immediately. Check how much you put in, and subtract that amount from the tank capacity stated in the user manual.
EG: On my Xsara the light comes on at 6 litres remaining... on that I can get about 60-70 more miles out of it in theory.
Or double check your manual - for the Xsara, it tells you how much fuel is remaining when the light came on. (And it was accurate, believe it or not.)

Or just keep going until it stops but make sure you have a can of fuel in the boot.
It makes me laugh when people do this. I think its the fuel economy syndrome. A friend of mine kept on running out of fuel on an old Passat diesel - he'd done it 4 times! I think he was just obsessed with the idea of getting 700-800 miles and more out of a tankful...What's wrong with stopping at a garage?!

yo nitro
yup the "miles to go" goes blank when the low fuel light comes on. On average (cos it varies abit) it has about 10 litres left in it. I pushed it once, did 80 miles on yellow, and then put 66 litres in it (70 litre tank)
|
"I pushed it once..." hopefully not for 80 miles !
The least I've found BMWs to have is about 5 litres - never ventured beyond.
The firm's Cav seems to be the same.
The Landie I would never be happy experimenting.

Well at least you can be certain that you've no horrid sludge at the bottom of your petrol tank any longer.
It's an excellent way to clean out your petrol tank, highly recommended...

Very Witty...
Cheers RF.

I am a tad relieved, wasnt looking forward to the verbal beating about you being stuck on the side of the road with an empty tank!!!
