Hi all,
My wife needs a new car, but her list of requirements are I believe impossible to match:
- 5 proper seats
- large enough for her artwork (ie rear seats must fold or must be an estate). Artwork is as large as 4"x3".
- ideally wants a softtop
- should be capable of towing a caravan.
I haven't seen any car that is a 5-seater convertible large enough to tow.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mark

The car that springs to mind as a convertible with space for three in the back is the Volvo C70. Not so sure that the rear seats fold though.

One of the ex MOD land rovers variants??
5 seats, rag top, folding seats, loading space.....

Wifes' car doesn't exist!
No it doesn't!
Should be: Wife's car doesn't exist!
Sorry, but I've just been reading a book on punctuation.

It might be that the spelling that's wrong instead if he's polygamous :-P

Surely you mean feet, not inches?
Anyway, Citroen Pluriel maybe? Oh sorry, you wanted a proper car (ducks down)

Berlingo with a full length sunroof

Citroen Berlingo Multispace, with the whole-roof sunroof is what she's after. 4x3 artwork would fit in the door pockets.

It will do when the replacement for the Pug 406 arrives. Estate with full length glass sunroof

How about a Saab 9-3? I think those have 5 full seats and belts, the roof doesn't suck up the boot space when folded, and they aren't short of power either :)

Yes, I was going to suggest that with the Volvo. Same question applies though - do the rear seats fold down?

Thanks for the replies so far - some interesting suggestions. I was asked about budget. Up to 30k would be the budget.
The Peugeot (I guess 407) looks quite interesting but there aren't too many pictures available that I can find.
The Berlingo isn't (apostrophe hopefully correct this time!) the sort of car my wife would be seen in - something with a little style is I guess another pre-requisite!

With a £30,000 budget you could always go for 2 cars, say an MX-5 for fun plus a hatchback / estate for the artwork. My wife's Honda Jazz is brilliant for seat folding, versatility and ease of driving though not very fast - but with something this size you have funds over for the extra running costs of 2 cars.

Vauxhall Astra convertable, fits most of that, not sure about folding seats though.

For £30,000 you could have a custom soft-top fitted to just about anything. £20,000 car plus £10,000 to cut the top off?

Espace with the panoramic roof?
DD - you've just reminded me of the Stonehenge stage set in Spinal Tap. Priceless....

Omega 2.5/3.0 Estate
5 seats
Large enough
Definitely enough for a caravan.
Not a soft top (though I note that's only "ideally"). Get a secondhand one for £5,000 and buy any convertible your wife desires with the rest of the cash. Or live with just having a sunroof and aircon.
