Read Clarkson in the Sunday Times Motoring on the BMW 645i. First few para's were gross - about throwing up - this guy has run out of creativity!!!!

Read the offending article.Typical of his ST style the car is almost secondary to the blokish stuff.

Sorry to buck the trend but I thought it was pretty good. It was imaginative, made its point about BMW drivers being hated as a result of preconceptions. and told me something about the car. He is, however, in danger of becoming a parody of himself, I reckon.

8 Ball,
With you in bucking mode!

He makes his points in an amusing manner and caters for the enthusiast and those faintly interested in cars.

The article is fine, typical of his style, and plenty of info about the car.

What's so offensive about it?

one of his better efforts, witty and with info about the car

Yes, excessive toilet humour is my only criticism. more for the bourgeoning peasant underclasses.

he's well paid by media orgs (broadcasting and print) to both provoke and entertain .. in fact, he's an actor, a pretty good one who uses wheels and all associated matters as his prop - far more seriously, he went up in my estimation when he undertook a fine defence of Brunel in "The Greatest Briton".

Yes but his 'inventions that shook the world' and he covered the jet engine was really very poorly researched and also had too much of JC being a prat. I don't know what he was trying to prove by travelling around the world in 48 hours but it was totally irrelvant to the programme. Now throwing up in a jet fighter, I call that karma.

The first few paragraphs of this report are utterly irrelevant, so BMW drivers get little consideration on the road but I think most people know that it is six of one and half a dozen of the other. BMW reworking the classic 6-series was always going to be a risk. The original 1970s 6-series is widely regarded with the 2000-series are one of the classic BMWs especially the CSLs. If the new one is no good then it's no good and JC is the right man to say so above anyone else.

I've no argument with his skills and ability. I enjoyed the Greatest Inventions Porgramme. I also enjoyed his late 1980s early 90s articles in Performance Car (where I fist came across him leading me to take out a sub.) but he was a man of his time in the 80s, perhaps he should move on he has the ability.

I think he has done well to find such an apt description of the prejudice BMW drivers are subjected too, if a little too graphic maybe. It's a good article, and once he starts to talk about the car is quite informative.

I actually think his character as a presenter in general was much better suited to the 'Great Inventions' series, which i enjoyed watching
