Ford Escort gear box - orack
I have a 1994 escort diesel van with a broken gear box. I have managed to get a S/H box from a 1996 escort diesel van. But the clutch relese bearing wont fit as the box nose is to big,It has a plastic sleve on it and sems to be about 1mm to big. motor factors cant help as thay come up with the same bering as I alredy have.Anyone know of this problem?

Ref. clutch bearing
The sleeve you mention is fitted with a modified bearing when the bearing sleeve has worn which causes the bearing to rattle.you should be able toget amodified bearing from a ford dealer.hope this is of help.

1996 Escort didn't have the combined release bearing and slave cylinder did it?

No It has a fork ass so must be convetual relese bering. The modfied bering sems the best bet I will have a word with my local dealer Monday morning
