Daihatsu are not the only maker in Japan having made these superb little squared off MPVs for many years, the genuine conservatism (ie conserving, the opposite of current Conservatism) of the Japanese is wonderful, i've long admired that nation and its people.

Doesn't that roof box with 1.2 on it cause some wind drag though:-)

Gordon.,.. I think that was the sign for platform 1 and 2.. or maybe the engine size for the UK to cope with the roof box supplied as a mandatory fitting in UK.

Was also at the Kyoto railway museum today. 1st bullet train did 263 Kms an hour in 1963

Impressive.

Both the UK and Japan had nationalised railways. Japan managed to introduce the bullet train under Government ownership. Whilst in the UK the Govt sat on its hands and let the railways decline.

The left and right of politics having a Punch and Judy debate about which is better nationalised or privatised industries.

Personally, I'm still confused about how to buy a train ticket in the UK. With so many different train operating companies, it's hard to figure out how to travel from point A to point B.

...reminds me of the Fiat Multipla.

And how long would that be, GB?

Let's keep that discussion out of Motoring please. General Forum if we must. Mod

Love small cars, love Kei cars. And Kei cars like the Canbus (the type which ekes out the maximum interior space possible within the allowable dimensions) are the ones like most. Though I do prefer those of a more boxy shape like the Honda N-Box and Daihatsu's own Wake(!)

As was at Osaka station last year waiting for the bullet train and there was Suzuki alto hybrid on display. These kei cars extremely popular in Japan.

I was walking down the street and found a Toyota dealer with a land cruiser on display.

Went to take a peek and a nice young man came out and after a bit of confusion asked if he could help.

Upshot was that after a short discussion and opened it for me, even though I wasn't going to buy did I want a test drive.

Why not. But please come with me ok.

What a car.. GB would approve.

Makes the korando look like a dinosaur.

Will see if I can raid the piggy bank when home. Subject to availability...

Note to self. Don't drive in central 0saka in the flush hour again.

Little note to self and others. Everything a LR defender should be.

OUCH!

Latest model? good luck finding one in the UK, as far as i'm aware they're not even taking orders, they were supposed to be offering the Diesel only here far as i can make out, i wonder if its potential fines for selling the wrong vehicles taking effect.

Would the one you tried have been the petrol hybrid perchance? well done getting a go in one and yes i approve.
