Congratulations for surviving last night without your loyal and hard-working moderating staff.

We were conducting a quality survey of Braksepars bitter in a fine hostelry in Oxfordshire.

Not that the evening was without difficulties;

The Pub that No Dosh had arranged for us to meet in had burned down, reopened, closed down and offered for sale all within the last couple of months.

We had to wait outside for a while waiting for DD. The AA Man left disappointed when he realised that ND wasn't going to risk switching off his Alfa and trying to turn it on again.

The pub we did find had little or no parking but was a very pleasant little pub. A little out of the way as I realised when I left the pub and an Ambulance from Abingdon stopped to ask me the way to the M40. We were a LONG way from Abingdon. Although I did check that they hadn't arrived just to give DD a lift home.

Some people commented that one of the moderators smokes quite a lot, but he didn't pay any attention to the whingers, particularly since once of them spends his time irradiating the country and the other was always an awful car salesman anyway.

We did think David Brent had turned up, but ND says that people are always saying that.

We had a group check of the fog light switch on Dave's cavalier and it is where he says it is and you couldn't switch it on accidentally.

And we discussed you lot - and that was probably the most fun of all !!!

Awwww.... if I'd known you weren't around I would have started a gratuitious "isn't Richard Hammond Lovely" thread.

Oh dear - sounds like parents' evening!

All that smoking has clouded your vision. Last time I looked, it was a Vectra.

Oh, so you fell for Vauxhalls cunning re-badge of the Cavalier as well then..... ;o)

All good, I'm sure. ;)

Seriously am amazed that you elusive guys finally managed to get together - the pub thing sounds a lot worse even than when we and Dan arranged the first BR meeting, offering food, and only to be told they'd stopped serving some hours before they'd promised.

I digress.

I'm really struggling to suss out which of the mods is the smoker but doesn't pay any attention to whingers - that one has really got me, just don't get it. The other two are possibly 50-50 as to who irradiates and who is a crappy car salesman. I have my gut instincts but I *have* been having a bit of stomach trouble lately.

Does ND really look like David Brent? I was introduced to him just a few weeks ago and fail to see the point (David Brent that is, not ND). I did think maybe it was a man thing till I realised all females apart from me get it too.

I've been out of here too long and didn't realise that Dave had changed to a Cavalier. Pity, I'm sure I could have offered many helpful hints about the fog light switch, me being an expert on Vauxhall switches.

Anyway really glad you guys had a good time.

Incidentally, whilst writing, and talking of BR gatherings - I'd like to announce that there is a bash at Volvoman's house tomorrow, and I'm sure he won't mind if I extend an invitation to the whole Back Room. So, if any of you can make it, just email me on the address on my profile and I'll give you directions.

Take care all
HF

"a quality survey of Braksepars bitter "
not heard of that brew before - but I reckon it must be powerful stuff!
Moderators go out to play... - No Do$h
LOL, yes, I think that it may have been Brakspears.

HF, yup, there is a certain Brentishness to my appearance, but no more so than any other slightly overweight bloke in his mid 30s with a goatee. Mrs ND gets a bit miffed at people making the comparison as it really goes no further than that, but what the heck.

Mind you, bit of a David Brent to arrange for all three of us to drive 25 miles or so to a closed pub.....

"Brakspears"
Blimey - it IS powerful stuff!!

3.4% ABV. A sensible tipple if supped at a leisurely pace over a couple of hours. Shame I had to wash it down with lemonade, but that's driving for you.

Oops, thought it was Breakspears (or Brakespears) - mind you I have been on the single malt (without lemonade!)
Cheers ND

Ah, a man after my own heart. Talisker by choice. Mind you, a nice armagnac and a Santa Damiana can make the end of the week that little bit more civilised. Roll on tomorrow night..... after the M3 bit.

Bowmore Surf at the moment - such a strong taste that after a few I could switch to Fairy Liquid and not notice the difference! Shows how sophisticated I am!!

Well at least I revived a thread that had been dormant since this morning ;)

Goatees - yes. Not good. I have reasons for that statement. :)

I am somewhat lost about the dialogue between phil and ND, therefore I will quit while I am only a bit behind.

Then I shall keep my lower face covered next week.....

Oh that's not fair, I have to say something now don't I?

Only I don't think it would be deemed ok for the site.

ND, HF,
For goodness sake go to bed(!)(preferably separately and without the Haynes manual). I was going ages ago but the board seems to be very busy. Usually, in the evening, I log on , have a browse through the day's postings for a while then retire - tonight I can't even keep up with the current postings. Is everyone on the malt? Are the mods going to obliterate the postings as nothing to do with motoring? Is it because "I'm a celebrity" is very boring without Rotten ?
Right, I'm really going to bed now
Moderators go out to play... - No Do$h
Not only the wrong end of the stick, you got the wrong tree!

Still, made me chuckle.
Moderators go out to play... - HF
Hmm - ND is right, Phil, I am sorry if my comments allowed you to believe otherwise! You *would* understand if you'd seen the comment I couldn't do on site.

Personally I have been away from here for a while. I am only just beginnning to catch up with things and it will take me a while. But I cannot take responsibility for today's increase in postings - sorry, only been here for a bit.

Mods are great - they had a day out yesterday, and are going to be arranging counselling courses for all of us that cannot toe the line. I actually might start that as my new career - (Counselling those that cannot be quelled by moderators). I think that might be good.

Have just realised actually that this is exceptionally likely to be deleted by mods as it is waaaaay far off topic. If they have the heart to do that to me :)

Ok I'm off. Every good wish to all, and take care.

Yes,I know - only joking!
Sweet dreams!

Do we bring our own weapon to bash him with, or is one provided?

News just in.... We are getting reports of WMD in the boot of DD's Vectra. It's not know if he can get anywhere in the country in 45 minutes (he would need a silver BMW for that) but with a flash of his foglights, he might just make it.

HF - If I didn't have to go to work tommorow I would be there, I'm in the mood for a road trip! :-)
