To someone who has a Vectra - is it easy to accidentally switch the front fogs on and not know they're on? Someone around me always has them on, even though I've reminded them a few times.
Vectra fogs are at perfect dazzling height! :)

No, IMHO, it is not easy to accidentally switch them on. The switch is mounted to the left of the headlight switch, on the dashboard, besides which, a light also comes on in the instrument binacle where all the other warning lights are, oil, alternator, etc to warn you they are switched on. As well as this, either turning off the headlights or the ignition cancels the fog lights,- both fronts and rears - and you have to manually switch them back on again.

DD : are we talking old style Vectra or new? I thought the old style Vectra was the same as the Omega? i.e. no warning light on instrument panel for front fogs, and the switches are mechanical, so if you leave them on when you switch the headlights off, they come back on when you switch the headlights back on.

SpamCan, my 2000 (x reg) is as how I described it, (apart from the fog switches are underneath the headlight switch, and not to the left) Maybe the earlier ones were the same as the Omega, but the light switchgear in my Vectra is the same layout as that fitted to the current Astra (late R reg onward). I would have thought though that as the Vectra came into production before the R reg onwards Astra, then the Astra inherited the switches from the Vectra.

As regards earlier Vectras, my \'96 P reg was exactly like your X reg. Not easy to switch on, auto switch off and a clear warning light. Exactly the same on my current model Astra too.

Fog lights are not for fog anymore. They're a fashion statement.

By the way, should this thread go down the same route as they do in discussion, that's where I'll be moving this thread to.
