Saxo oil leak 1999 1.4 Advice please. - stevek
Looking at the engine I have oil leaking out about half way down the block on left sideand it is now covering the alternator mounting bracket. It is not coming from the rocker cover.
Will this be a simple job or a garage one?

Steve, The 1.5 diesel 106 engine leaks exactly as you describe if filled to the top mark on the dipstick. It seems that dear old PSA increased the oil volume in this engine without making any other changes in the pursuit of their ludicrously long service intervals. My car is oil tight (80k miles) when filled to 3/4 distance between lower and upper marks, and uses virtually no oil.

I would suggest this could also apply to the petrol 1.4. Try lowering the oil level before you take any further action, as PSA engines are generally very good (the rest of the car rather less so).
