Started couple of days ago with the Idle speed being erratic, either ticking over very slow or at 2500 rpm. Now once the engine warms up it idles at 4000rpm ..... any ideas please.

Air leak into induction manifold? Split/loose air induction pipes?

I suspect the idle speed control motor has got its knickers in a knot. Remove and clean it and also clean the throttle butterfly area. Check the cable/linkage is free then disconnect the battery for 10-20 mins. Start up without touching the gas and let it idle for 10 mins or until the cooling fan has cut in then go for a long cruise in varying traffic. If this doesnt sort it call in an expert. An air leak will normally put the EM light on as the fuel trim limits are exceeded.
