Does anybody know if the French built yaris's are as good as the jap built ones, and where are the 1.3 petrol engines made?.

About 2 years ago I was told by Toyota UK that only the 1.0 Yaris was produced in France and all 1.3 versions were produced in Japan.
My question was prompted by some reports that the 'French' Yaris was giving problems. See also the Car-by-Car breakdown on this site. HJ indicates that the problem is now solved.
