Ford Fiesta heater problems - emma
Moved from discussion. ND.

I have a T reg Diesel and for some reason the heater has stopped working. I have tested the control unit and it appears to work, ie when measuring the voltage at the solenoid connector there is either 12V or 0 dependent upon the setting. Has anyone any else had this problem? and what is the solution

Hi Emma,

The heater control unit works on a pulse basis, i.e., when you turn the switch on the dash it sends a pulse to the heater control unit in the engine bay and tells the valve to open a set amount according to the pulse it receives from the switch on the dash. I had a problem a little while ago with the heating on my mk4 fiesta and it was the heater control valve against the bulkhead, it is likely that this valve is faulty, there was a ford service bullitin explaining this.
A replacement valve will cost around £35 and take approx 20 mins to fit.
Hope this helps.
