Probably I actually don`t know I would have thought the new unit was powered by a cam belt rather than chain ie is a overhead cam not overhead valve would like to know any better.
OHV engines do not feature a cam belt OR a timing chain!

Well alright then, but only very short ones! The point is, that doesn't determine whether it's a OHV or OHC engine.

Ah, i was wondering why someone had left a bicycle chain in my Escort's engine!
No use sitting there redundant, might be reducing performance. If I've got time i'll take it out tonight and post the results :-)
