Given the ongoing problems with parts and logistics generally, I don't put much faith in these monthly figures. Better to take the year-on-year, like inflation, to be a better comparison.

I think that we can believe the monthly figures. They will be accurate. The problem is that month by month there is a wide variation caused by the arrival of shiploads of cars some months and not others. As Andy says the year on year figures are more useful because they iron out short term variations.
