It’s March 1st, new registration day.
Just as a bit of fun, I’m going to (hypothetically) give you £65,000 to spend on a car. It has to be a cash sale, and it has to be a single, brand new car.
I’ve chosen the fairly obscure figure became it gets me what I’d have - a fully loaded Polestar 2.
What are you going for?
Any - March 1st - movilogo

I shall get a motorhome for that price :-)

I'd like an Alpine A110 GT please.

I’ll beat you to the first corner, after which you’ll be long gone.

Top of the range Ioniq 5 with posh paint and tech pack. (was impressed by an uber-ride in a basic one last year). But I'd rather keep my A8, thanks.

Any - March 1st - gordonbennet

Landcruiser, can get the full Invincible spec for that, much obliged, i'm just checking colour options now, green most likely.

Any - March 1st - skidpan

I would spend 1/2 of that on a car and waste the rest.

Would get a BMW 128Ti, probably the last chance to get a quick ICE hatch and if you debadge it no one know which spec it was.

Tesla Model Y dual motor in blue - plus a fast charger installation in my garage.

Or . . . a decent VW T6 camper.

BMW 540i Msport with all the toys. We have been out and about with the dog but not seen a 23 reg. The wife and I always have a a friendly banter on spotting the first one! We went about 4 days on the 72 plate, so I don' know what the odds are, sales up or down?

Difficult one this because there are so few new cars which appeal to me, certainly ones north of £50k.

But, if sensible hat on, something like a Transit Tourneo Custom. Went on to the Ford website and I can spec up the all new model the way I'd choose for just under £60k, leaving a few £k for some choice extra's.

Silly hat on?. Not sure if it is doable for £65k but an Ariel Nomad. Otherwise possibly the all new Morgan Super 3.

Been a huge fan of the XBus modular EV since I first learned of its existence. And though they are still not actually on sale in the UK yet, I'm sure I'd get the off road bus with maximum batteries along with at least 3 of the 7 other body modules with change (possibly quite a bit) from £65k.

I’d boringly and predictably enough I suppose, just have another E Class estate. I’ve done 400,000 trouble free and completely pleasant miles across two of them in the past 12 years and they just do everything I want and need.
Ain’t broke so don’t fix it sort of thing. ;-)

Quite fancy a Lexus, nx, ux, that type

Any - March 1st - Xileno

I will have a Defender please. They start from about £58k so I should be able t have a bit of fun with the options list.

Since they changed the yearly plate change to twice a year, I don’t notice as many new plate cars, I still haven’t seen one and you tend to go bog eyed when trying to spot one when driving , granted I don’t drive as much nowadays, mind you I have a new car on order which, hopefully will be a 23 plate,

The good ol' days of spying out who's got the 'newst' new reg car in August (a friend's dad who worked for Vauxhalls managed to once get one before the reg change date - loved to know how) to 'beat' The Joneses...

As a joke, I looked up whether I could register my early 2006 (55) mazda3 with the reg P [eye] 55 OFF, but sadly, no.

A work colleague of mine had his new Toyota Previa delivered two days before the new registration - quite legal for the dealer to do that on a flatbed or on trade plates.

Presumably then they both weren't allowed to drive the car until 1st August on the roads.

Correct in the case of the Previa owner.

When I was in the trade in the 90s there was two of us in the sales team.

The week leading up to August was filled with delivering new plate car's on trade plates to be holed up to the first.

I lost a stone in weight after one of those weeks!
