My car has 3 tyres at 6-7mm and 1 is 3mm

Got tracking done but only owned the car 6 months

Question

Car does approx 3000 miles a year

Garage which done mot says change 1 tyre not the pair

I am unsure on this as always thought was a pair

And brands

Have good dear on goodyear, MAXXIS

Currently have all nexen tyres but unsure if i should buy them

You only need to change the pair if you have a large disparity in tread depth left between the remaining one on that axle. Most new tyres (aside from some winter tyres which have more tread) have a starting tread depth between 7 and 8mm, so 1-2mm between them tops shouldn't be an issue on a 2WD car.

Good idea to try and match (or current version of) the new to existing if you can, but if not, just make sure it's the same type of tyre, performance ratings (max. speed and weight at least) and quality - whether directional, asymmetric or symmetric, to ensure grip is similar in poor weather across all tyres.

Nexen tyres are fine. I had them on a 200bhp Kia Sorento from new without any drama.

I'd just replace the one tyre. A Citroen Nemo isn't a performance car. Try to get two matching tyres [make, model] on the two front wheels, even if that means moving the rears to the front.

As an advisory presumably, since your lowest tread tyre is well legal, and AFAIK there is no MOT requirement for tread depth uniformity.

Do you have a spare? If not, and you want to replace your lowest-tread tyre, maybe relegate it to spare status, assuming you have somewhere to put it, not necessarily on the car, though that would be best.

If/when your front tyres get worn down to close to 3 mm, if you could be bothered you could start swapping the spare in to spread the wear on the front 3, until they get down to the legal (or your personal) limit.

Then you chuck the fronts (keeping a legal spare) move the rears to the front and get 2 new ones for the rear
