Whilst I appreciate the legal issues with posting a link to Giles' article in the Times (which I won't link), I thought it rather ironic that the closed thread is accompanied by a series of advertisements for Jaguar E-Pace vehicles for sale ... perhaps one is Giles's accursed car?

This story has been given much coverage and why not. Whilst I agree with all the points made-I can’t help thinking that Giles could have done more research and practical thinking prior to purchase. I for one would not have wished to own a large EV outside a terraced house with no formal chargers to hand

Both my EVs continuously report their location to the App on my phone. Then perhaps Vauxhall and Fiat are more upmarket than Jaguar.....

Or maybe theirs actually work. Modern JLRs aren't exactly renowned for design and build quality, are they? Says rather a lot when Vauxhalls and Fiats, not exactly synonymous with that, do a better job?

Yep no issues at all. Should have bought from Stellantis Giles..

Yeah, but he'd thenm have no cahce to get into the local pony or golf club, or feel 'special' when dining at some fancy Michelin -starred restaurant on the company dime? Image seems to make a lot of difference to the metroplitan journo set.

He'll probably get an Audi, Porsche or suchlike as a replacement.

A modern 'journo' (nepo baby?) who doesn't do their homework? Who'd thunk it? :-)

Sadly that now seems to apply to a LOT of motoring journos as well working for legacy media outlets.

The original article is behind a paywall : www.thetimes.co.uk/article/why-ive-pulled-the-plug...l

But the bottom line was that you are "better off walking" than relying on useless, unreliable EV's (or specifically the Jaguar i-Pace - apologies I originally entered e-Pace rather than i-Pace in the subject line).

Although he appears fed-up with problems finding access to chargers, he was highlighting the number of times he & his family have been left stranded by the roadside - and the inability of the mechanic despatched by Jaguar Assist to resolve a software failure.

BUT - the point I was making was not so much Giles Coren's predicament, as that a post relating to advice by a disgruntled owner that one should never purchase a similar vehicle seems to automatically attract advertisements seeking to sell similar cars! Aren't computers wonderful.

The power of contextual advertising!

Anyone who did any research would never buy an electric car made by JLR.

SO the journalist has more money than sense.

Well, who would have guessed it?

( I read the article - access 3 months for £1- and I thought the author proved he was naive - and that is being very kind)
