My Vitara had her first service today at a massive 5200 miles! Excellent service as usual, car collected at 9 am and returned by 3, they even took the time to send a video explaining what they had done, not a lot in reality, oil and filter, top up the screen wash etc but I thought it a nice touch?

I think it's becoming fairly common with main dealers, but yes, it's a nice touch.

The vast majority of main dealers, and a growing number of independents, have some form of customer video provision. Indeed, some manufacturers include video production as part of an apprenticeship.
It’s a nice touch from a customer satisfaction point of view, but it’s also useful for an aftersales department in that the customer gets a message, plus video evidence, from a technician rather than a probably non-technical service advisor.
The result is customers more likely to approve work rather than take it away and have it done elsewhere.

5 years ago I got a video from the Honda garage for the service they carried out.

PR exercise.

I went to check the fluid in the auto box a few months later.

They had stuffed the dipstick in & buckled it. You have to have patience and slip it back in gently.

New one cost me £15 IIRC and I then decided I preferred quality servicing from my local Indie - no videos BUT a top job.
