Hyundai Tucson - Power Failure Same Place - Zippy123

I have had two Tucsons. Both from new. One from 2017 and one from 2021.

Both diesels, first was a 1.7TDI, the current one is a 1.6TDI MHEV.

Both DSG Automatics.

I have had a strange loss of power in both though - only once each and exactly the same place, within a mile of home, returning from a long trip (over 100 miles). There was plenty of fuel in the tank.

It happens on a busy B road with a 90 degree bend. On approaching the bend at about 20mph and lightly applying the brakes the car stalled and has to be restarted (park, ignition key turned).

I am thinking this could be due to the gearbox getting confused re the odd camber of the road and acceleration dynamics, choosing the wrong gear and stalling (though a DSG can slip the clutch) or it could be due to the number of high powered phone and emergency services transmitters by the side of the road on the corner interfering with the engine management system.

I would love to know which it is and how do I go about proving it?

In specific places there may be Radio Frequency (RF) interference - when I had my Subaru there were a couple of places in my town where the alarm would trigger when the car was unlocked - one was at a car spares shop on an industrial estate, so I suspect one of the nearby industries - the other in a town centre - modern cars will have much motre electronics than that Subaru.

A full diagnostic scan should identify the modules affected but that's not the same as proving it's RF interference.
