All - Old Registration from Retention - paul45

Hi All,

Slightly left field question, does anyone know of a way to find out your previous DVLA issued registration that would have been on retention?

Context is, the previous car I owned was on the same private plate I've had for around 20 years, but I have no photos, or paperwork I can lay my hands on, as to what it's actual registration was. It was a late plate 62, but that's as much as I can find / remember.

So any site I've used to try and discover it now uses my private plate and of course returns the existing vehicle on it. I suppose one avenue is to call the dealer.

One way would be to put the private plate on retention then DVLA will reissue the original number (assuming it's still available) but that has a cost and probably isn't what you want to do.
