My 406 has started seeping petrol from the junction of a small pipe with the top of (I think)the fuel pressure regulator, the pipe in question is about 3\" long with a square metal elbow at the top with a pipe from that disappearing under a plastic cover.
I need advice on these points please:
With the engine off will there be fuel in the short pipe?
If there is will it be under pressure?
Is it just a case of replacing the pipe with a new piece & two new clips or is there more to it? - I don\'t want to put myself in the position of taking bits off & then not being able to get to a garage if it gets difficult (which has happened in the past)
Any advice gratefully recieved,
Thanks

Ian - I think a trip to the parts dept is in order here, just to see what parts are available and at what cost.
Please be careful working on a modern high pressure fuel system, it's potentially dangerous with obvious pitfalls.

Off at a tangent, but did you get your speedo fixed when it was playing up 11 months ago?

Reggie:
I took the instrument panel out and checked all connections, it didn't do it again until about a month ago so it's back on my to do list (again)

DL:
You're right about the potential danger -I think in this instance I'll use my local garage, my theory is - if its simple it won't cost much in labour, if it has complications I'd rather a professional mechanic sorted it for me-
thanks

Good thinking Ian - Garages in general aren't a rip-off and if you find a friendly one it's a bonus!
Give them a go and please report back what is found, will ya?

Ian, I don't know if the fault on your speedo is being caused by the same faulty electronic interface as mine was, but if you put "406 speedo fault" in the search box, you should find a thread that I started, and read about the symptoms on mine and how I cured it. The main reason that I have to doubt it may be caused by the interface is the fact that although mine was intermitant, it wasn't absent for months at a time as yours seems to be.
Hope this may be of some help.

Ian, also I just seem to recall that the interface was a regular part (according to the parts dept) for the 2.1 diesel.

Reggie:
Thanks for that, I'll have a look,
DL:
The petrol leak's sorted - 60p for jubilee clips & the price of a pint (offered , not asked for) for my friendly local mechanic who took the pipe off, cleaned & replaced it & let me watch while he did it so I'd know what to do another time.
Just shows - not all garages are out to fleece you..
Thanks again for the feedback
