When I turn the key on my E30 318IS nothing happens at all! Never had any tourble at all and it roll starts and runs fine. Is it definitely a new starter motor as the cheapest I've found is £81 (recon)- aaaargh...! Thanks in anticipation.

Before you shell out £81 do this:
Make a note of your radio code. Disconnect your battery first for safety. Check all the wiring especially the small key switch wire to the solenoid (smaller cylindrical part on the side of the starter). It is quite common to get a bad connection there. Normally it's just a case of cleaning up the key switch connection and away she goes.

Thanks Charles but unfortunately this wasn't the case and I have replaced the starter motor with successful results!
