MINI Cooper S 2011 - Oil Pressure Switch - Chris M

The oil light came on on a friend's MINI. She took it to a garage close to where she works and they have diagnosed the oil pressure switch.

They have quoted 1.5 hours labour to replace the switch. The last time (about 30 years ago) I replaced a switch it was a 10 minute job. Is the MINI one more than just a plain switch, difficult to access or maybe needs programming to the car?

Sadly, 10 minute jobs don’t exist any more on modern cars . If I recall , the oil pressure switch is located behind the exhaust manifold and turbo system. So a fair amount of dismantling will be required for access. The switch is nothing special, but it may be a good idea for the garage to check the actual oil pressure while there .
