Thierry Bollore to join JLR:

Given that Renault are doing much better in the reliability ratings, maybe this man can turn JLR around?

You mean he might actually make Land Rovers reliable?

That would be... a miracle/amazing/long overdue/frankly, unbelievable (select one or more answers).

JLRs lack of reliability was one reason I didn’t buy an F Pace. Liked the E Pace too but no opening pan roof, so lost sales. I got called some months after looking by a Jaguar dealer asking if I was still looking or had I bought elsewhere. Told the lady I’d got an X3 (G01) and she said 2 previous calls had said same. Even now I occasionally look, but the cars are desperatly overpriced on the used market.

Given Renault’s chequered history, won’t hold my breath on reliability improving.

I’m astounded that my partners Captur has been 100% reliable and I take back all my jibes about the diamond of doom.

The car has been brilliant with the new 1.3 turbo petrol which is shared with MB transforms an average car.

Let’s hope he can do the same at JLR

Bollore wasn't there for very long so unlikely to have had much impact on reliability improvements, although he would have experienced the corporate culture, hopefully he can apply that to good effect in JLR.

I had a hire Captur last summer, you could tell it had been quite hard-used on the fleet but it still felt remarkably solid with no rattles or creaks anywhere. I have come across a few owners and also of the Kadjar, they seem pleased so hopefully Renault sales will now recover, it is afterall a long time since the early models of the MK2 Lagunas, Meganes, Scenics that were not fully cooked when launched. The five year warranty can only help.

Earlier in the year I was tempted by an Evoque but the many tales of woe concerning DPF and the 2.0 Ingenium engine put me off. I know one has to be careful with the internet, people with problems are more likely to be vocal than satisfied owners but there seemed too many. So yes I hope Bollore can give the company a kick up the backside.
