Citroen xsara picasso 2005 2.0 hdi - Hydraulic power steering - Matthew Pritchard

Hi, yesterday my power steering suddenly stopped working, no noise, no intermittent function it just stopped (nearly ended up in someone's front garden).

Is there anything that I can check/do or any ideas on what could cause it to just suddenly stop functioning?

The tank has fluid and no leaks apparent.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

First thing I would do , is to check the poly vee drive belt is intact and turning the power steering pump .

Possibly the pump has terminated . Can you see any fluid movement in the reservoir with engine running?

I guess you could disconnect the output pipe from the pump to check for pressure, but this can be very messy . Looks like a trip to your garage .
