Typical Daily Mail rubbish, why let facts get in the way of a good story.

The rates for the first year have indeed risen but buyers never see those since they are included in the OTR price. The subsequent years VED is the existing annual rate (+ inflation I think) and there is the extra charge for cars over £40000.

But the first year rates are based on the new official CO figures and they have risen for all vehicles and not just SUV's.

Is there any wonder people with 1/2 a brain cell never read the Daily Mail. A truly disgusting news paper.

It's not even fit for toilet paper.
