BMW - Battery on Mini Cooper - Jungerns

I was starting to get battery warning light on dash if engine was off but Stereo on (cleaning inside car etc)

It does a lot of short distance stop starts. I was going to ask for assistance in getting battery out but as it turned out I had a 9 hours drive on Monday anyway. I have a sensor in Cigerette lighter slot which shows an output of around 14 volts on average (I assume thats what it is lol)

I havent tried sitting with engine off with stereo on yet but is 9 hours driving likely to given it a decent charge up ??

A long drive will very likely charge the battery sufficiently. However if the battery is on the way out , it’s not going to fix an impending failure. If the battery is 5 years old or more, I would consider a replacement. Is the car fitted with stop/start system?

14V will be the measure voltage while the engine is running and your battery is being charged.

Even new cars have the battery warning if the radio is running while the engine is off. SWMBO Picanto3 does that. Presumably just a friendly warning?

My Octavia does that as well and iirc will turn the radio off after a set time.

But, yes, your battery could be on its way out after 5 years.

You will need the correct type battery ,if you want any chance of the s/s system to work correctly .
