Peugeot 308 SW - Need general advice re tow bar - gb199

Hi all - firstly I am a car idiot so apologies for that. I have searched for an answer but cannot find anything

I have a 308 SW which has always had a tow bar fitted, which I've never used. I'm now thinking it maybe good to use it for a bike rack, however I cannot find an electric harness for it. Is it possible the car has a tow bar without the option of electrics? I've looked under the car but don't really know where to look and can't find anything in the manual

It’s certainly possible that a previous owner had the bar fitted but with no electric system . Other possibilities are that the electrics have been damaged and not repaired. You need to look for a 7 pin plug , either metal or plastic, with wiring that leads up into the boot area . Alternatively, remove the rear Lights to see if any wiring has been added . Find a local sparky or tow bar company that can check functionality of the socket , if you find it . It needs to be wired correctly so as not to upset the lighting network on the car .

Maybe an earlier owner used it for a rack which didn't obscure any lights or the reg.plate (if that is possible) ?
