Citroen Picasso Xsara..2.6 HDI 2006. 151k - airbag warning - strickjumpers

Hello, the day after my MOT i had airbag warning lights come on, along with a dashboard message of "airbag fault", these faults remain, lights still on and next to it what appears to be a warning of side airbag too..different icons.

I tried messing with the connections under the seats and disconnecting the battery to no avail. I replaced the coms unit and airbag squib some weeks before hand, the slipring started making a squeeking noise shortly before failure, I removed and refitted the slipring unit and squeek gone but airbag lights persist.

About a day later an ABS warning ligth and message "not operational" came up and remains, now there are two faults I cannot get rid of.

Wondering where the steering position sensor is and if both faults could be related by disturbance of squib ring at steering column.

Any assistance or advice greatly appreciated,

thanks, Mike.

Random electrical faults could be a symptom of a battery issue.

My car was stood for four days all weekend, came to start it on a very icy Monday morning and the airbag light came on. Five minutes later it was fine and has been fine since.

If your steering column is the COMM2000 type there's a great fella in Bradford who repairs them and gives out free advice. You'll find his details here:

Unfortunately without any diagnostic help you are going to struggle to fix this . The faults could certainly be related to the airbag clock spring , on the other hand they may not .
