I've always thought a sports-pickup would be a vehicle I'd like to own. I can remember doodling them in school exercise books.
Not like this of course.
This just looks like the standard Bloated-Blingmobile that pickup trucks have become. In this case it'd be tempting to blame the Chinese, if we didn't know it was the Americans, and ilka wannabes, who set the tone.
The Australians have sport utes, (like the US Camaro) which are essentially muscle cars with a load deck.
That has some appeal, but I'm thinking of something more lightweight and minimalist, essentially a traditional 2-seat RWD sports/trials car with better air-adjustable ground clearance (simple air-adjustable suspension kits can be surprisingly cheap), twiddle brakes, and a small load platform.
An MG badge wouldn't look out of place on something like that, and it'd likely be a commercial disaster which is fully in line with MG tradition.
I'm pretty sure I've seen pictures of an early Lotus 7 ancestor which looked like what I describe, but perhaps I dreamt it.
