On one of my regular motorcycling routes through Wales, I pass a farmhouse just outside of Bryneglwys on the A5104 to Corwen. In the yard in front of the house, there are some cars which look like they've been sat there for quite some time - none has ever changed position in the 3 or 4 years I've been using that route (which I do probably a dozen times per year).

One of the cars is an early 2000s Maserati Quattroporte, just sitting on the long grass. That was a £75K car when new, and now effectively just scrap.

At my parents' flat, one of the parking spaces was occupied by an Aston DB7 for several years. It had moss growing around the windows, and the steering wheel and instrument binnacle had been removed, presumably in a vain attempt to trace an electrical problem.

Any other Backroomers regularly see relatively recent expensive / supercars that have been left to rot?

A Jaguar XJ40 is now steadily rotting away locally for many years. Large holes in the bodywork are filled with moss. A tarpaulin covered speedboat sits in front of it. A couple of other rotting cars including a Range Rover were removed a couple of years ago. I suspect there is a tragic back story. 12 years decay at least.

I've seen some sights over the years. The latest was a couple of nice convertibles stored in a barn. The barn had openings that birds could get through. The cars had their tops down and no covers. They were covered in dust and guano, inside and out.

A Bentley Mulsannes sits 3 miles away and has done for at least a decade.. (on a road to nowhere so few passers by except wallkers)

A Briostol 406 used to 5 miles away.. now gone (to restore I assume)

Years ago when i was driving buses, one route in particular (on Sundays only) had the bus coming down into a village from a different direction to the usual service buses. There was a bus stop just across the road from a house with a large drive which had two cars under tarpaulins. One of them was obviously an E-Type, the other would have been a bit harder to identify for even a run-of-the-mill car enthusiast. Not for a super nerd like me though!, i immediately identified the sharp edges and proportions under the tarp as being a Maserati Khamsin,

During the 5.5 years i drove the buses, it never moved, and what bodywork could be seen at the bottom, was rusty (as was the E-Type), so a project of monumental proportions for some brave soul!.

A bit more recently, a customer of mine had a BMW M6 sitting on the driveway. Very sad and forlorn looking, dusty with cobwebs and moss round the rear lights!. Wasn't a huge fan of these, but it was kind of sad to see this 500bhp machine in such a state. It has gone now, hopefully to someone with the enthusiasm and funds to resurect it, look after it (and keep it in clutches!)

Craig, you've probably passed me on that road if you travel it on a Saturday morning or evening. I go down twice a month as a rule. I'll look out for this farm ....

As it happens, I am just back from buying a Pug 306 from a chap living in the middle of a Somerset wood, surrounded by 205s and 306s, mostly up-range models, which he just 'collected'. He drives a Ford ....
