Removing plates with plate tape! - NAthan smith
Anyone know the best way to remove number plates that have been attached using double sided plate tape? I don’t want to scratch any of the paint work around the area etc?

Dental floss or similar worked round the back in a sawing motion might do it. It is often used with things that are stuck on - badges etc. Or just wait, the one stuck with tape on my caravan a few years ago just fell off! Heating with a hair dryer might help to soften the glue.

Another one to agree with the use of dental floss and if that proves too weak, fishing line.

You could try using a hair dryer or hot water on the front of the plate, if you can locate the sticky bits. That kind of adhesive usually softens at about 70 degC. But try not to deform the plate itself :-)

Last time I removed one I squirted lighter fuel down the back of the plate. It didn't actually dissolve the glue but it did soften it.

WD-40 will probably do the same and be easier to squirt ?

Worth a try. I was going to use "sticky stuff remover"

but we didn't have any. What I did have was lighter fuel.

Or do as I did last month: drive to the south of France, wait for the temperature to reach 40, watch the plate drop off as the glue melts.
